2/6/17 Rail Trail Closing

The Rail Trail will be temporarily closed to the public beginning Monday, February 6, 2017 for tree maintenance work being conducting by the Town of Montgomery Highway Department & J.W. Tree Service.  Weather permitting, the work will take one week (5 days) and the trail will be closed due to safety concerns while they work.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause!

Prescription Drop Box Program at Village Hall

In January 2017 the Walden Police Department started participating in the NYS Prescription Drop Box Program. Working with CVS pharmacy who provided the medication collection unit, NY National Guard and the Orange County Police Chief’s Association, the Village of Walden has become a site to drop off prescription drugs for disposal. Unused, expired or otherwise unwanted medications can be dropped off in the bright red MedReturn Drug Collection Unit in the entrance way of the Walden Municipal Building's entrance by the police department. This will create a safe, responsible and anonymous disposal for prescription drug items. Accepted Items: Prescriptions Prescription patches Prescription Medicine Prescription Ointments Over The Counter Medicines Medications for Pets Vitamins Medicine Samples Not Accepted: Hydrogen Peroxide Thermometers Needles (Sharps) Medicine from businesses or clinics Non prescription ointments, lotions or any liquids Aerosol cans Inhalers

Adult Open Gym every Tues & Thurs through March

The Recreation & Parks Department announces that their Adult Open Gym (Recreational basketball) program will be open Tuesdays 9-11 pm and Thursdays 8-10 pm beginning Tuesday, January 24, 2017.  The program is open to all Town of Montgomery Residents (ID required) who are 18 years of age or older.  The cost is $5 per person per session.  The program will run through the month of March 2017. This program follows the Valley Central School District Schedule, if they don't have school on a program day, there will be no Adult Open Gym program either. Christmas Tree pick up 1/9/17

Please be advised that the Village of Walden Department of Public Works will pick up live Christmas trees starting Monday, January 9, 2017.  All trees should be placed curbside and be cleared of all foreign materials such as lights, decorations, etc.
