We just got word from the Water Department that they had to replace a Fire Hydrant located on Harvard Drive today. We wanted to alert residents in this area that they may experience brown water due to this replacement as the iron in the pipes gets stirred when making a replacement such as this.
Please be advised should you have brown water, know that the water is safe to drink. We do urge residents to use caution when washing light or white laundry as the iron in the water may stain those types of clothing.
We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause to residents however a replacement such as this could not be avoided due to concerns for public safety. We did not know it would be need to be replaced prior to this.
